Research Profile

I provide research and analysis for multilateral organizations and other public sector clients in conflict zones or denied areas in North and West Africa. My work explores the intersection between illicit economies, non-state actors, ethnic, clan and/or tribal dynamics, and governance. While each area of interest has unique conditions and constraints for research, all of my research touches on the relationship and power-sharing between government elites, most often in populated urban areas, and communities at the margins. I have published research in a peer-reviewed journal on Mali and Niger and written for popular media and non-refereed journals on security conditions in Algeria and Mali.
